LORI, HOW DID YOU GET INTO WRITING?
Ever since I was a child, I’ve been captivated by her international friendships and the teaching of English. I am mesmerized by the power of short works to inspire true understanding of the cross-cultural experience. I aim to expand my writing skills in creative nonfiction, guiding others to do the same.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON?
I’m happy to say that my two works of memoir are complete: Sioux Beside Me (1991-1995) and Mongolian Interior: An Expatriate Experience (1995-2000). These works showcase my family’s side-by-side adventures into the worlds of the Sioux nation of South Dakota and post-Soviet Mongolia. One of my current projects is a YA Fiction Series which begins with KALVIN TAYLOR: Son of Thunder, a story that explores the intersection of science, faith, and spiritism.
DO YOU HAVE A WEBSITE?
Many of my stories and essays are posted here at www.WorldSoBright.org where I attempt to make this world a brighter place. Fees that otherwise would have been given to the writers, photographer or artist are forwarded on to VisionTrust, my charity of choice.
WHERE DO YOU LIVE AND WORK?
Since taking my family around the world and back, my husband and I have made made warm and woodsy Missouri our home. I’ve used my Masters Degree in Teaching English as an adjunct instructor at Missouri University and as a public educator, returning to my first love: teaching children how to read and write.
